CastleMIND is an innovative software solution that presents advanced mathematical concepts within an interface designed to make the software very easy to use. The software’s technical advantage stems from the use of mathematical rules derived from fluid dynamic principles and foundry / moulding experience that are used to evaluate and supplement the theoretical formulae. The results of the calculations are clearly reported in a way that makes the results easy to understand for both skilled and unskilled operators.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

It is an additional design tool for the casting die maker that applies highly advanced scientific and mathematical theories using simple terms well known in the foundry. It provides extremely practical results in real time with no need to wait days or hours. Not only does it identify the problems but it also suggests how to solve them. It not only provides a simulation of a standard situation but it also adjusts to forecast the real working scenario of the given tool on the given machine.

AID FOR THE DIE DESIGNER

CastleMind helps to optimize dimension and shape of both gates and ventings in relation to the type and quality requirements of the casting, number of cavities, type of alloy and size of diecasting machine. It suggests the optimal plunger diameter and automatically generates a machine parameter datasheet (injection strokes, plunger speed and pressure) as a guideline to be sent to the foundry or used for realistic filling simulations.

MACHINE AND PROCESS MODELLING

Castle Mind uses a comprehensive description of the die casting equipment: the machine is described not only for its size and closing unit but also for the injection unit to generate accurate results. Accelerations, decelerations, delays, wear and tear of the machines are taken into account and the user is provided with a custom database of his/her own machines which may differ from the standard configuration. CastleMind verifies  if the given machine is able to reach a pre-set parameter (i.e. pressure or speed) and automatically adapts the calculation to the actual behaviour of the real machine suggesting, if available, the best compromise.

AID FOR THE FOUNDRY

It provides the ability to improve productivity providing optimal injection parameters, slow and fast shot speeds and strokes, shot sleeve diameter, furnace and die temperatures in order to maximize part quality and reduce setup times. The software helps to understand if a casting defect is due to the mould, the machinery or the process and it suggests potential solutions. It increases and stabilizes casting quality  over the time (in terms of porosity and surface finishing).  It also allows to reduce the influence of temperature and of alloy composition fluctuations, as well as of other factors not under control. It helps to reduce die wearing and soldering phenomena, frequently caused by poorly calculated and inadequate gates.

The new version of the software features CastleAir, the module for the optimization of vacuum and venting channels. Parallel multi CPU meshing, Advanced injection profile management, transient CastleRun analysis are the main new functions that the new release offers.
