What’s New in Castle V3.3?

Smarter Evaluation with CastleMIND

CastleMIND introduces several enhancements that improve database handling, air venting analysis, and early-stage mold design. The ability to customize machine and material settings has been expanded, giving users more control over their workflows.

Some of the key improvements include:

  • Castle Wizard – A powerful new tool that allows users to quickly setup a CastleMIND simulation based on part geometry only, making it easier to perform feasibility studies and tooling evaluations.
  • Customizable settings and database management – Users can now save configurations for HPDC machines, including default shotsleeve length, plunger diameter, alloy selections, and surface quality targets.
  • Expanded machine database – A broader selection of cold chamber presses (180-9000 ton), now featuring 438 presses including brands like Haitian, UBE, Shibaura besides an extended selection of machines from Idra, Buhler, LK, etc. and hot chamber presses (25-480 ton), including 145 presses with new introductions from brands like Agrati  – Haitian – Ak Sangyo – Tbc – Technocrats.
  • Advanced air venting functions – Users can now compare active vacuum systems (valves or chill-vents) and passive venting solutions (chill-vents or air-vents) to optimize air evacuation in both cases.

With these features, CastleMIND makes early-stage process planning more efficient while improving control over key production parameters.

Faster and More Accurate Simulations with CastleRUN

Simulation performance has been significantly improved in CastleRUN, making it possible to process high-pressure die casting scenarios with greater efficiency.

Key improvements include:

  • A new solver for TP FLOW, allowing plunger motion simulations to run up to five times faster.
  • Enhanced pressure field visualization, now displayed in bar units for better interpretation.

These upgrades help engineers analyse results more effectively and make faster, data-driven decisions.

A More Intuitive Experience with CastleBODY

CastleBODY has been refined to improve usability and performance. The software now streamlines several aspects of the casting process while making it easier to manage complex setups.

Notable enhancements include:

  • Up to 50% faster plunger motion filling simulations, thanks to a more efficient solver.
  • Enhanced air porosity calculations, providing better defect prediction and process optimization.
  • Possibility to select a simplified Hot Chamber interface, with automatic slow shot speed settings, reducing the need for manual input, thus making it more intuitive and user-friendly.
  • Improved 3-plate die management, allowing for better handling of complex mold configurations.
  • Pre-filled and editable notes, making it easier to document simulation details.

These updates make CastleBODY even more user friendly, while delivering faster and more accurate results.

Enhanced Data Visualization with CastleVIEW

CastleVIEW has been redesigned to provide clearer and more insightful data visualization. The new launcher interface makes it easier to access simulation results, while a series of new display options improve usability.

Users can now take advantage of:

  • New visualization modes, offering Standard, Light, and Criteria-based views.
  • The possibility to seamlessly select the color of text and background.
  • More information displayed for each calculation.

With these enhancements, CastleVIEW makes it easier than ever to interpret simulation data and refine process parameters.

Seamless Compatibility with Visi 2024

Castle V3.3 is fully compatible with Visi 2024, bringing improvements in file handling, CAD model import, and workflow efficiency.

Users can expect:

  • More robust file import processing, particularly for multi-body geometries.
  • Refined geometry fixing tools, allowing for better CAD model preparation.
  • Reorganized command menus, streamlining navigation and improving efficiency.

Optimized Storage and Resource Management

With Castle V3.3, resource efficiency has been improved, allowing users to run more simulations without overloading their systems.

Updates in this area include:

  • Optimized disk space usage, reducing storage requirements during and after simulations.
  • Better mesh preset management, making it easier to organize and modify simulation parameters.
  • Direct mesh information availability in ParaView, eliminating extra processing steps.

These refinements improve performance and ensure that Castle runs smoothly, even when handling large-scale simulations.

For those who are not yet using Castle, now is the perfect time to make the switch.

The latest version delivers faster simulations, a more intuitive interface, and improved data visualization, making it one of the most advanced casting simulation software available today.
